Audirvana is an audio streaming and playback service that optimizes your computer to turn all your audio stuff into a HiFi listening experience. ![]() So how do you optimize audio from your computer source? Enter Audirvanaīut now, there is Audirvana – the ultimate digital audio playback. This is quite frustrating, since we did pour a lot of effort to create something good. Or sometimes, there are things that we would like you to hear, but certain digital interferences eliminate the sounds we make, leaving listeners thinking that “There’s something missing” from our music. But I have my share of experiences in recording music (I was a drummer from a band), and I tell you, half of the things we listen to have a lot of unwanted noise that we, as creators, would not like our listeners to hear. The playback should be solid from the get-go, ensuring that the listener can enjoy any type of audio playback in the best possible way.Īs you may know, there are a lot of media players in the market, and a lot of them are quite good to be honest. In this case, it should be either your Mac or PC. It all begins with the source or the point of origin which the audio is playing from. You see, HiFi audio playback isn’t all about the external gear we use. All people needs to do is connect them to a music source, like a Mac or PC and they think they are done. Every music listener now owns a piece of ear gear that promises delivery of “High-Fidelity” or HiFi music. That is why companies are making a killing from selling a lot of equipment that audiophiles eat at a drop of a hat. Sure, I may sound like a cringe-y Spotify ad, but it’s true. Be it podcasts, videos, or music, everyone wants to do one thing – and that is to listen. Clearly, for me AS‘ sound is more dynamic, pleasant and engaging, while Roon has a bit of nervousness (graininess?) in its sound that becomes disturbing after a while.ĭespite Roon’s superior user interface, the sound is more important for me, that’s why I go for Audirvana.Whether it’s for background ambience at work, some gaming tunes, or just lazily hanging out with friends, everybody loves listening to many types of audio. The treble in Roon might be a tad smoother, but not by much. That’s the first thing that strikes me when I switch from Roon to AS. One thing for sure is that AS has much better bass extension. Since downloading AS, I compared SQ between AS and Roon ( same setup Mac mini 2018/Raspi 4B RopieeeXL) and I like AS‘ sound better. Even the so often criticized UPnP streaming works flawlessly, as I have my Mac mini 2018 streaming to a Raspberry Pi 4B running RopieeeXL. Yes, there might be tiny quibbles, but for what I am using it, basically listening to local files and Qobuz streaming, AS is up to its task. I can’t judge Tidal/MQA, as I gave up Tidal a long time ago. With custom cables and linear power supplyĪS works perfectly well for, local albums just as well as Qobuz streaming, no problems whatsoever. ![]() ![]() IMac -> Singxer SU-6 -> Audio-GD D-28.38 Full upgrade -> Kennerton Vali Neotric Take your time to ask for money, let people be QA testers, give them an extended trial until the application becomes a product. Seriously, it is very slow and there is a lot of work ahead. First you need to polish it up to be called a product. And AS app looks like a beta or even an alpha test. Roon app looks like a product to sell, it works much faster, smoother, fewer bugs, and more. The sound in Roon is more polished, softer - it’s more like the sound when I turn on the DSD upsampling (r8brain) in honestly tried to compare both platforms to decide what I want to buy. ![]() Next, I compared Roon 1.7 to AS 1.2 and I more liked the sound in AS. I may need to use this for a longer time to hear the difference, but at a fresh glance, I did not hear the difference in sound. Just comparing three versions of apps - Roon 1.7, Roon 1.8, AS 1.2.įirst, I didn’t really hear the difference between Roon 1.7 and 1.8.
